Well, after alot of talking and thinking and PRAYING we have decided to switch adoption agencies. It seems that the "free" agencies aren't as good as they sound. They only get paid when we actually get a child, so they want you to come to them with your home study already done and ready, so they really don't have to do anything. That's the way it seems to me anyway. The other agencies may cost alittle more (between $1000 and $2000) but they seem to care about he kids more. We will be starting over, which upsets me, but I bet even after having to start over, this agency will have everything done before the other one would.
I never thought I would fight so hard for a child I have never met, but Selena has stolen my heart. I pray that God wants us to be her forever family, and we get everything done in time. Please pray things start rolling for us. :-)

I wish I had something to write, to update, because that would mean we are making progress instead of being stuck in the limbo that we are. I sometimes have to remind myself that in the end, I wont remember any of this. Kinda like when your pregnant, swollen, and miserable....once you hold that baby in your arms, you forget all the bad stuff. Well, I guess you could say that I am that cranky pregnant woman lol.
I am nowhere near ready, well I'M ready, but the house isn't ready for more kids, Lexi's room isn't ready. Because I don't want to hurry and get everything ready and then just sit and look at it while we are still waiting. I know what is going to happen....things are going to start moving along, and go FAST and I wont be ready. Soooo I guess I better start getting things ready. I would rather sit around and wait with things all ready than be caught unprepared. I am just soooo impatient lol.
Please keep us in your prayers, and our future children. They have a great extended family and lots of friends eagerly waiting to meet them. :-)

Welcome to our Adoption Journey :-)
I wanted to start writing about our adoption journey to keep y'all informed (those of y'all that care) :-)
We took our PRIDE class yesterday, in San Antonio. It was very interesting. I am getting excited. I am really praying that we are able to adopt Selena. She does not have any families trying to adopt her yet, so our chances are still good.

Some of CPS rules make no sense to me at all!!! You cannot put your child in the corner???? Well, you can put him/her in "time out" (a minute for every year of age), but as far as putting him in the corner with his face facing the wall...that's a NO NO. I don't understand that one. You cannot make your child write sentences as punishment, like they used to make us in school. You cannot tell your child "if you don't eat all your dinner, you cant have dessert". If we adopt a little boy, lets call him Freddy, and we are all at the dinner table. Lets say Laura eats all her dinner, and Freddy doesn't eat much at all....If I give Laura dessert, I HAVE TO give Freddy dessert. I understand these kids have probably gone hungry at some point in their lives, but how are you supposed to teach them to eat right with rules like that? When we had Ricky, all he wanted was sweets because that's all his birth mother EVER gave him. You sometimes have to bribe them to get them eat right. So I told Laura, she will now get to eat snacks in her room lol. I'm gonna get a small plastic tote to hide in her room with her snacks. I don't want her life to change to much when we adopt. Let me explain something though...When we are matched with a child, they live with us for 6 months before the adoption is final, I guess this is a "trial" period. During that 6 months, we have to go by CPS rules...no spanking, and the rules I stated above. Once the 6 months is up, we go to court, and the child is now ours, a Mentock (YEAHHHHH), then we live by our rules. I know CPS is trying to protect the kids, but some of the rules are kinda crazy.
Like I said, I am getting very excited. I am trying to get Lexi's room ready, that is taking longer than I thought it would be. I know Lexi is in heaven helping us get through this. I miss her more than I can ever say. Next month she would have been 2 years old. Its gonna be a hard day, but we will get through it.
We are doing a baby bottle fundraiser, asking that friends/family save their loose change in a baby bottle, to help us "change" the life of a beautiful child. If you would like a baby bottle to help, just leave me a message and I'll get you one :-) Thank you in advance.
We are at a standstill now in our adoption process. We need to raise $500 really quick, if anyone has any fundraising ideas, PLEASE PLEASE let me know.
Thank you for reading, I will keep y'all updated on our journey.
